X Windows Forwarding with SSH Secure Shell from ssh.com

X Windows applications can be forwarded to the X server on the CD using the SSH Secure Shell client from ssh.com rather than using the ssh client (openssh) that is on the CD.

Prepare the ssh client for X forwarding

1. Open the ssh client application under Windows.
2. Click Edit -> Settings -> Profile Settings -> Tunneling.
3. Click the box labelled "Tunnel X11 connections" toward the bottom of the panel.
4. Click OK.
5. Click File -> Save settings.
6. Quit the ssh client.
7. X forwarding will remain enabled until the setting is changed by the user.

To forward X applications

1. Launch the X server from CD as usual.
2. The xterminals that are opened by the X server can be ignored or closed.
3. Launch the SSH Secure Shell client from windows.
4. Connect to a remote host, and run X applications at will.
