X Windows Forwarding with SSH Secure Shell from ssh.com
X Windows applications can be forwarded to the X server on the CD using
the SSH Secure Shell client from ssh.com rather than using the ssh
client (openssh) that is on the CD.
Prepare the ssh client for X forwarding
- Open the ssh client application under Windows.
- Click Edit -> Settings -> Profile Settings -> Tunneling.
- Click the box labelled "Tunnel X11 connections" toward the bottom of
the panel.
- Click OK.
- Click File -> Save settings.
- Quit the ssh client.
- X forwarding will remain enabled until the setting is changed by the
user.
To forward X applications
- Launch the X server from CD as usual.
- The xterminals that are opened by the X server can be ignored or
closed.
- Launch the SSH Secure Shell client from windows.
- Connect to a remote host, and run X applications at will.
